No Pulp Mill Alliance at the Albert Hall: ‘A great success’
The forum/expo organised by the No Pulp Mill Alliance at the Albert Hall last night was a great success.
Speaking on behalf of the No Pulp Mill Alliance, Lucy Landon-Lane said, “Close to 600 people attended the event last night, and there was an air of celebration which filled the Albert Hall. We had wine and cider tastings, food stalls, information about innovative and creative businesses from the valley, artists, honey products and people from the health industry displaying their wares. Attendees enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, with time to talk to fellow activists and friends.
“Speakers commented on the fact that the Liberal and Labor governments refuse to look at the facts surrounding this doomed project: the facts that it has never been thoroughly and adequately assessed in areas of social, environmental and health impacts, nor do these politicians see how the support of local food industries would create more jobs than this mill.”
“Most people agreed that this project will never go ahead, and that we must look forward to innovative and local based industries that rely on and add to our clean green environment.” she concluded.
Gunns receivers KordaMentha will accept final bids to Gunns’ assets by March 31.
