Liberal ministry reveals division agenda

Posted on

The Liberal Party’s announcement of its Ministerial line up today has revealed a government driven by division instead of inclusion.

“It appears Mr Hodgman plans to lead a government in which community cohesion will go out the window, replaced by social division,” Greens Leader Nick McKim said.

“Mr Hodgman appears to have forgotten that we live in a community, not just an economy.”

“If you are a young person, an older Tasmanian, a public transport user, a multicultural Tasmanian, or someone who cares about climate change, then sadly you no longer have a voice around the Cabinet table.”

“Climate change is the biggest policy challenge facing any government, and Mr Hodgman’s decision to abolish the portfolio reveals him as yesterday’s man rather than a future thinker.”

“Tasmania is uniquely placed in the world to be a low carbon leader and adapt to climate change to create resilience and prosperity for its people.”

“Being climate smart is good for our communities and our economy but Mr Hodgman has instead followed Tony Abbott’s lead.”

“Putting Paul Harriss in charge of forestry means we can expect to see a return to the failed business model of taxpayer-subsidised native forestry on an industrial scale, with the conflict and division many Tasmanians had hoped we had left behind.”

“Creating a caring and inclusive society is apparently not on this government’s agenda, and they appear determined to press ahead with an approach based on exclusion and division.”
