Rodney Croome: Advocates to seek election cdommitment to a more inclusive Tasmania
Gay rights advocates hope Tasmania will continue to become a more inclusive and accepting society, regardless of the outcome of the March 15th state election.
Tasmanian Gay and Lesbian Rights Group spokesperson, Rodney Croome, said,
“In the lead up to the election we will be surveying all major parties on key issues like same-sex marriage, anti-discrimination policies and funding for support services.”
“But our main goal is to ensure that whoever wins government will maintain Tasmania’s trajectory towards being more inclusive and accepting of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and interest people.”
Both Labor and the Greens support same-sex marriage.
While the Liberal Party has not supported the reform, leader Will Hodgman gave in-principle support earlier this week to expunging state criminal records for gay sex and apologising to those affected.
