Kim Booth: The Pulp Mill; We must all take a stand

Posted on

16 January 2014

Hi everyone,

You have likely heard the news that Lara Giddings has sacked the Greens from cabinet and will be recalling parliament on 28th January to try and validate the expired Gunns pulp mill permits.

Labor is recalling parliament at the behest of a private company and once again they look set to work with the Liberal Party to pass special laws for a pulp mill that Tasmanians don’t want and don’t need.

This decision continues the corruption of our democracy that began with the fast-tracked Pulp Mill Assessment Act and its Section 11 clause. As you can see in the attached article, I have again publicly stated that I intend to either support or move a motion of no confidence in Labor when parliament sits as this perfidy must not go unchallenged.

We must all take a stand.

Please come to a forum (tomorrow) to hear from key people how this decision undermines our democracy and discuss the strategy to stop the Tamar Valley pulp mill.

WHAT: Stop the Tamar Valley Pulp Mill
WHEN: 22nd January from 6-7.30p.m
WHERE: Tailrace, Waterfront Dr, Riverside
SPEAKERS: Pete McGlone, Director of Tasmanian Conservation Trust, Lucy Landon-Lane, No Pulp Mill Alliance. Vanessa Bleyer, Bleyer Lawyers, Kim Booth MP, Tas Greens Pulp Mill Spokesperson

Invite your friends and family and stand up against the corrupt coalition of Labor/Liberal/Gunns. Please RSVP to my office Amy.Tyler@parliament.tas.gov.au or 63362294.

Regards,
Kim Booth
