Ashgrove Cheese enters voluntary recall of five hard cheese products

Ashgrove Cheese Pty Ltd has commenced a recall of several hard cheese products relating to Bush
Pepper following routine testing which found traces of Listeria monocytogenes.

At this stage there have been no reported cases of illness and the recall is being entered into
voluntarily as a precautionary measure.

The products affected are:

• Ashgrove Tasmanian Farm Cheese – Wine Lovers, which is a selection of five cheeses in a
box, 250 grams in weight and has a best before of 7/7/14 or 23/6/14;

• Ashgrove Tasmanian Farm Cheese – Picnic Pack, which is a selection of three cheeses in a
box, 150 weight in size and has a best before 23/6/14

• Ashgrove Tasmanian Farm Cheese – Bush Pepper, which is a single cheese, 50 grams in
weight and has a best before 30/6/14

• Ashgrove Tasmanian Farm Cheese – Bush Pepper, which is a single cheese half wheel , 1.25
kilograms in weight and has a best before 17/3/14 ; and

• Emporium Selection Pepper Cheese (Aldi), which is a single cheese, 170 grams in weight and
has a best before 14/7/14 and 3/8/14

The Ashgrove branded products were sold in independent supermarkets in Tasmania and Victoria,
while the Emporium Selection Pepper Cheese was sold in Aldi stores.

Listeria may cause illness in pregnant women and their unborn babies, the elderly and people with
low immune systems.

Consumers should not eat these products and should return them to the place of purchase for a full
refund. Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice.

Food wholesaler PFD and G&K as well as direct retail customers have been notified today and the
product is being removed from supermarket shelves.

Richard Bennett (GM) said Ashgrove was working with the relevant authorities, including the
Director of Public Health and Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ).

“The delivery of the highest quality products is our number one priority and we will keep our
suppliers and customers regularly informed of any developments,” Richard said.

“At this stage we understand this is an isolated incident and none of our other products are affected.

“We apologise to our customers and the public for any inconvenience caused and we will continue
to issue updates for consumers.”
