National Award to Southern Prospect

Federal Member for Braddon, Brett Whiteley has today congratulated Wynyard based company Southern Prospect Pty Ltd on being named the 2013 Mission Australia Employer of the Year – Training and Skills Development.

“Southern Prospect were recongnised for their work with Mission Australia to train and employ 16 formally long term unemployed workers in the past 12 months.” Said Mr Whiteley.

“Tasmania has the highest percentage of long term unemployed in the country, while Braddon’s unemployment rate remains over 8% also the highest in the nation, so this award is worthy recognition of a local company working to change the employment prospects of people in our region.

“Tasmania has both the highest unemployment rate and long term unemployed rate in the country, the Government will work with companies like Southern Prospect as we roll out the Coalition’s Economic Growth Plan for Tasmania.

“Winning National Awards such as this continues to prove the quality of businesses operating and employing in this wealth creating part of the state.”
