Barnett vows to be pro-development and pro-jobs
Only the Liberal Party can deliver the stable, majority Government Tasmania so desperately needs, State Liberal Lyons candidate Guy Barnett will tell over 130 guests who will attend his official campaign launch at Longford tonight.
State Liberal Leader Will Hodgman will officially launch Mr Barnett’s campaign with the former Senator confident the party can win three seats in the electorate at next March’s election.
“The success of Eric Hutchinson in winning the Federal seat last month with a swing of more than 11 per cent electorate-wide is a clear sign that the people of Lyons are fed up with the Labor Government hamstrung by the Greens,’’ Mr Barnett said.
“They saw the damage done nationally and are living through the damage being done at a State level.
“Thanks to Labor and the Greens, Tasmania’s economy is flat lining, our unemployment rate is the worst in the nation, the cost of doing business is skyrocketing and many Tasmanians are left with a feeling of hopelessness.
“I want to be part of a Will Hodgman-led majority Liberal Government which will be unashamedly pro-development and pro-jobs. We can and will provide hope.
“Minority Government just has not worked and only the Liberal Party has vowed not to enter any deals with other parties to govern” he concluded.
Mr Barnett’s campaign launch will be held at the Longford RSL from 5:30pm.
