Tasmanian Liberal Senator Richard Colbeck Rejects Green Group Claims …
… Regarding Proposed World Heritage Listings
Tasmanian Liberal Senator Richard Colbeck has rejected claims from green groups regarding
proposed World Heritage listed areas.
The areas proposed include thousands of hectares of forest regrown from clear fell and burn
less than 30 years ago, eucalypt plantation, pine plantation and recently harvested forest.
Senator Colbeck said none of these areas could genuinely be considered of World Heritage
quality.
“The proposed listing is little more than a Labor/Green land grab designed to shut down the
forest industry,” Senator Colbeck said.
“The proposed listing is a fraud on Tasmanians and Australians and diminishes the value of
the World Heritage listing process.”
