Delivering for Families in Lyons
While the last week of campaigning has the main parties scouting for any political advantages over the other, Family First Candidate, Gaye James has continued door knocking and talking to the people within her electorate of Lyons.
After chatting to thousands of residents, the majority made it very clear they had lost faith in the promises made by politicians, which in the most part were never delivered.
It is clear that the uncertainty in the community is growing and people definitely feel vulnerable, powerless and unsure about what the future holds, most importantly for their children. It is time, we as the voice and vehicle for all Tasmanians stand up and make a difference, rather than making false promises said James. If voted in on Saturday, she said she will ensure all issues within the community are addressed and the best outcomes are delivered for the families in Lyons. As representatives for the community, we need to set the standards and foundations for future generations of tomorrow. Being upfront and honest with the public and not making promises that cannot be delivered is what I will administer to, James said. She outlined some of the most concerning issues facing her electorate and made the following recommendations if elected on Saturday.
Tasmanian unemployment is currently 8.1% and rising. I will bring Jobs back into Lyons and the state by decreasing taxes and abolishing red tape, which will considerably increase revenue and growth.
I will work with Small Business to ensure the local economy is stimulated by initiatives and development across all industries. Supporting industrial, manufacturing and construction growth, will be my objective for job creation throughout Lyons.
Training for all will be made available and creating opportunities for investment in the region will be encouraged.
The Cost of living pressures due to increased utility prices have families in Lyons struggling to feed their children and heat their homes. I will push for better regulations on these services delivering affordable prices for all.
I have concerns regarding the gaps in the delivery of Health Services and the lack of Mental Health services within the region. The aged and people with disabilities in rural areas really struggle to have their needs met and this requires immediate attention.
The Single Parent Pension needs to be reinstated and I will make the appropriate recommendations to the Government to ensure this is done.
I will ensure Pensioners benefit from all Pension reforms.
All schools in the region will benefit from the education reform scheme and more teachers and educators employed as required.
Child care reforms improving quality and affordability will be delivered.
The infrastructure shortfalls Lyons faces along with the rest of the state, needs to be addressed immediately. Roads, Rail and Ferries are just some of the main concerns that need urgent funding and upgrades without delays.
The Government needs to be made accountable and follow through on their promises. I will be the voice for all families in Lyons if elected, to deliver on those promises and more.
