Andrew Wilkie: A statement regarding Nick Xenophon
Nick Xenophon is a tireless, hardworking Parliamentarian with the community’s best interests at heart.
The Greens are running a misleading campaign in South Australia trying to link Nick Xenophon to the Liberal Party.
I’ve worked closely with Nick Xenophon over the past three years and I know for a fact that he is fiercely Independent and not beholden to anyone.
He is always focused on getting best outcomes for the community and there’s simply no doubt about the strength of his commitment to social justice and issues such as poker machine reform.
I know Nick and the Greens share some common ground on policy so it’s a real shame that the Greens have resorted to such a negative and personal political attack.
I think that by trying to smear a person of such integrity and good character as Nick Xenophon the Greens dishonour themselves and no-one else.
