Senator Online’s All Star Cast – Tim Ferguson, Tony Barry & Don McKinnon

Posted on

What do a Doug Anthony All Star, an actor staring in a current ABC series and a star footballer have in common? They are all passionate about better government and running as candidates for Senator Online.

Tim Ferguson (Doug Anthony All Stars/Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush) best known for his flowing fringe or should that be flowing humour and fringe political views.

Tony Barry who has performed in 56 feature films and as ‘Ray’ in the ABC series ‘The Time Of Our Lives’ – last episode due to screen 8th September – is that coincidence or fate!

Don Mckinnon, star footballer for North Sydney & Manly who was selected in the 1982 Kangaroo side that became known as ‘The Invincibles’.

All are candidates for Senator Online’s senate bid (NSW).

All are passionate about better government and disappointed that they might have to go to Canberra to get ours fixed.

Senator Online (‘SOL’) adopts a philosophy – now talked about around the world – of using the internet to promote a ‘direct democracy’ “where people will be able to engage through their smart phone, tablet or PC” says Party Founder Berge Der Sarkissian.

SOL will conduct an online poll on every bill put before Parliament. SOL claims it will be more accessible, transparent, and engaging with the 85% of voters who have access to the internet. Its Members of Parliament will then vote according to the majority view.

The party has ditched traditional political methods to give all its power to the people via online voting.

“The party will offer every person on the Australian Electoral Roll the opportunity to vote online on bills and important issues that affect them and the wider community” according to Der Sarkissian, “Tallying votes and determining the clear majority voice will then automatically be the SOL party view”.

“People use the internet as a form of communication with friends via Facebook and exchange entertainment on YouTube. What we’re doing is giving people the chance to have their voice heard on issues that interest them” Der Sarkissian said. Information on each Bill and the Issues debated in parliament will be presented on the party site www.senatoronline.org.au. “It will be a democratic party operating in its purest and most effective form” says Der Sarkissian.

SOL is not aligned to any other political party.
