Rudd borrows Greens small business policy but cuts support by 33%?
Australian Greens spokesperson for small business Senator Peter Whish-Wilson responded today to Kevin Rudd’s promises to increase the instant asset write off to $10,000 by saying he welcomed Labor adopting part of the Greens small business policy but questioned why the Prime Minister had it cut by 33%?
“The Australian Greens announced a complete package of policies to support small business in the first week of the election campaign which not only included an increase of the instant asset write off to $10,000 for the next three years but also a 2% tax cut for small business across the board.
“While it’s welcome to see Kevin Rudd adopting some of the Greens policies to support small business why has he watered down the incentive by cutting it back to two years?
“And if Kevin Rudd is serious about supporting small business I call on him to also adopt the Greens plan to cut the small business tax rate by 2%.
“The Australian Greens are the party standing up for small business in Australia,” Senator Whish-Wilson concluded.
