Andrew Wilkie on Labor preferencing Libs: ‘Hollowness and rank hypocrisy’

Posted on

The Independent Member for Denison, Andrew Wilkie said the Labor decision to preference the Liberals above him conclusively demonstrated the hollowness and rank hypocrisy of their misleading and dishonest campaign against him.

“The Labor campaign in Denison so far has been centred around trying to somehow link me to Tony Abbott, which is clearly rubbish,” Mr Wilkie said.

“But if they are really so concerned about the Liberals forming government why on earth would they preference them here in Denison?

“Labor’s how-to-vote decision says that if they don’t win Denison Labor would rather the Liberals gain the seat than I retain it.

“For all their scaremongering Labor clearly aren’t that concerned about the Liberals or they’d put the Liberals last on their how-to-vote card.

“Labor’s preference decision has exposed their campaign against me in Denison for the shallow cynical politics that it is.

“Labor must now cease its dishonest smear and fear campaign trying to link me with Tony Abbott because each time they do it exposes their own hypocrisy.”
