Veterans super boost good news

Posted on

The Independent Member for Denison, Andrew Wilkie, welcomed the Government’s announcement that the superannuation indexation rules for the Defence Force Retirement Benefits (DFRB) and Defence Force Retirement and Death Benefits (DFRDB) schemes would be made more generous.

Mr Wilkie said that many veterans relying on DFRB and DFRDB payments had struggled in recent years as the indexation had not realistically reflected the increase in the cost of living.

“Veterans’ payments are indexed at lower rates than the Age Pension and other Commonwealth Government payments,” Mr Wilkie said.

“Veterans have been vocal in their campaign for a fair deal, and rightly so. I am pleased that the Government has finally decided to listen.”
