WYNYARD BILLBOARD VANDALISM CONDEMNED
GREENS MARRIAGE EQUALITY AD SENDS MESSAGE TO STATE UPPER HOUSE
Marriage equality advocates have condemned vandalism of an anti-marriage equality billboard in Wynyard, as well as the business signs of the man behind the billboard, Graham Hodge.
Tasmanian Gay and Lesbian Rights Group spokesperson, Rodney Croome, said,
“I strongly condemn this vandalism because the way to achieve marriage equality is to build bridges within the community, not further polarise it.”
“Supporters of marriage equality have a strong case which is undermined when we are seen to be bullying and silencing others.”
Mr Croome welcomed a new marriage equality ad released today by the Greens, saying it sends a message to the state Upper House to support reform.
“The ad highlights that support for marriage equality is widespread across the community and sends a direct message to state Upper House members that they must represent majority opinion by voting for the state marriage equality bill the next time it is debated.”
