Tasmanian Children relegated to a life without mothers or a life without fathers
The Tasmanian Government’s Adoption Bill passed today will relegate some Tasmanian children to a life without mothers or a life without fathers, said Mr Guy Barnett spokesperson for the Save Marriage Coalition today.
“This is a sad day for Tasmanian children.
The legislation is adult rather than child focussed.
The intentional creation by government of motherless or fatherless children is a retrograde step.
Denying an “unknown” child the right to either a mum or a dad is contrary to their best interests and this new law unfairly discriminates against this new group of motherless or fatherless children.
This Bill focuses on the desires of adults rather than the needs of children.
Children at any stage of life should not be treated as toys or trophies, they are to be cherished loved and nurtured, and at all times their best interests should remain paramount, Mr Barnett said.
