Federal Court hearing commences today
Save the Tarkine is in the Federal Court today for the first day of final hearing relating to it’s case against the Federal Environment Minister’s approval of the Shree Minerals’ Nelson Bay River mine.
Save the Tarkine asserts that the Minister erred in law in approving the mine, and failed to comply with the legal obligations to protect the Tasmanian devil – a Commonwealth listed endangered species.
The hearing has been set down for three days, in the Federal Court, Melbourne.
