ANOTHER WIN FOR CLAREMONT FOOTY
The Independent Member for Denison, Andrew Wilkie, welcomed the announcement of $200,000 in Federal Government funding to upgrade the Abbotsfield Park sporting precinct in Claremont.
“I first took this proposal to the Government in 2012 and have been lobbying for it ever since. I’m absolutely delighted that Deputy Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and the Federal Government have agreed to fund this much-needed upgrade,” Mr Wilkie said.
“Community participation in sport is a good thing for all sorts of reasons, and better facilities means a better experience for community members using the sporting precinct.
“Claremont is a great community and the Claremont Football Club is a great club. In this parliament we’ve already won funding for new lighting, and with this additional money the canteen can be upgraded or replaced, new coaches’ boxes constructed and netting behind the goalposts installed.
“Denison really does matter in Canberra nowadays.”
