PROGRESS ON SOUTHERN PLANNING SCHEMES WELCOMED

Posted on

The Tasmanian Greens today welcomed the release of all 12 draft interim southern Tasmanian planning schemes for consultation, and strongly urged all affected landowners to get involved in the process.

“As much as it is overdue, the release of the southern interim planning schemes for consultation is significant progress for planning reform in Tasmania,” Mr Morris said.

“We strongly encourage all landowners to go the State Government’s website and check how their property could be affected.”

“Landowners should be specifically checking which new zoning their property falls under, and assess how it might affect future land use.”

“If landowners have any concerns they should make a representation to their local council as soon as possible, because now is the time to be doing it.”

“Planning reform is long overdue in Tasmania, which is why the Greens have supported this process since the beginning.”

“Harmonising planning schemes across the south of the state will help to finally bring much-needed certainty and clarity to decisions over land use.”
