The 43rd Senior Bocce Championship and 18th Women’s Bocce Championship this year will be a winner.

The Australian Bocce Championships this year has attracted 12 internationals, amongst the 62 bocce athletes contesting these 10 titles. Players from all states and regions will compete over the four days, 7 to 10 June, at the Redlands Sporting Club BocceDrome.

The men will be competing in six medal events. The traditional Singles, Doubles, Triples, then the specialised Bowl Throw and the Precision and Progressive Throw competitions. The women will follow, competing in the traditional Singles, Doubles, Triples and Precision event.

The four day event is played over the National Queens Birthday week end.

What to look for; Queensland will be led by the vastly experienced international Anthony Parlato. RafaeleZollo from South Australia will endeavour to retain his Singles title. Victoria has perhaps the strongest depth in dependable players and will do well all the major events, including retaining their Triples title. The unknown call will be for the Victorian Santo Pascuzzi who has switched teams and will represent the Under 35’s team as he defends his Bowl Throw and Progressive Throw titles. Nick Cooper from the Latrobe Valley will compete again to retain the Precision Throw title.

Amongst the women the international Queenslander, dominating Barbara Jones will be looking to maintain her Singles and Precision throw titles. Western Australia will be competing to retain their Doubles Title while the Latrobe Valley women in Victoria will fight to retain their Triples title.

Preliminary Competition commences on Friday the 7th at 10am and continues through till Monday 10th June at 6pm. The finals of most events are completed on the Monday, concluding with the exciting Progressive Throw final at 6pm.

The Championships are organised by the Bocce Federation of Australia with the support of the Queensland Bocce Federation and our host club, the Redlands Sporting Club.
