TFGA to repeat Agfest carve and serve hit on Fifth Avenue
So popular was the Dissect and Dish It Up demonstration series at the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) pavilion at last year’s Agfest, there will be a reprise this year at 507 Fifth Avenue.
The farmers are bringing back Bob the Butcher (Bob Dewar) and The Gourmet Sleuth chef Sean Dunn to exhibit their respective skills at carving up a carcass and preparing meals with the cuts.
“We had standing room only at some of these demonstrations last year,” TFGA chief executive Jan Davis said today.
“We know of one woman who travelled from Ouse to Agfest each day to attend every one of those demonstrations. She took copious notes and photographs, so we hope she’s now putting it all into practice.”
Again this year there will be two giant plasma TV screens so that everyone will be able to see Bob’s surgical skills and Sean’s culinary deftness.
Agfest runs from Thursday May 2 to Saturday May 4.
The TFGA will share its site with four of its business partners, the farm insurer WFI, ANZ, Animal Control Technologies Australia and Telstra.
Also within the TFGA site will be:
• the Skills Institute, which offers specialist expertise in training for agriculture and forestry;
• the National Broadband Network;
• SheepConnect;
• the TFGA weeds committee; theme “Be aware, garden escapees cause harm to the Tasmanian environment and big losses to primary production”
• the National Harvest Labour Information Service, which aims to connect job seekers with growers, and
• PASS (Proactive Agricultural Safety and Support), which promotes on-farm safety awareness and practices.
