Call for focus on the issues in Nelson

Posted on

Helen Richardson, new independent candidate for the seat of Nelson, today called for a focus on policies not personalities as the Legislative Council campaign heated-up.

The recent focus on personalities, instead of policies, in the battle over Nelson was a concern and Helen Richardson called on all groups to focus on the issues important to voters such as managing the economy, supporting small business and securing jobs.

“Important issues are being raised by community groups, and there is undoubtedly widespread concern about part-time political representatives, but my campaign is about progressive policy and not focusing on the personalities,” said Helen Richardson.

“Jobs, the economy and cost of living are the other major concerns of the people of Nelson and that’s what I’m focused on — one hundred per cent,” said Ms Richardson.

Helen Richardson will attend the Nelson candidates’ debate on Wednesday night at the Dr Syntax Hotel in Hobart where she will outline more of her policy platform.

“If elected to the Legislative Council, I will work full-time representing the people of Nelson and focus on their priorities – a strong economy, securing jobs and affordable education and transport,” she said.
