CLIMATE CHANGE CHAOS
Today’s abolition of the Climate Change Department is just another example of climate chaos.
It is part of a pattern of grand announcement followed by failure and abolition.
Among the many examples of announcing and then abolishing their own work, we have had the pink batts program, green loans, cash for clunkers and the notorious citizen’s Assembly.
Now we have the Department of Climate Change which was created only to be destroyed.
But while they are doing away with the Department, they have failed to do what is really needed – scrap the Carbon Tax.
The Prime Minister might try to hide the department, but there is no hiding from the hurt the Carbon Tax is causing.
Only today a major energy company revealed that 65,000 customers a month are seeking extensions on paying their rising electricity and gas bills.
In addition, there is the 14.5% average increase in electricity costs for our manufacturing sector which only adds to the pressure on jobs.
The grand hypocrisy of the ALP is also on show as last week they attacked the Coalition for alleged public service job cuts, but have now delivered their own cuts.
If elected, scrapping the Carbon Tax will be the first priority of the new Government because it fails to reduce Australia’s real emissions, but does hurt Australian jobs and households.
The Hon Greg Hunt MP Member for Flinders Shadow Minister for Climate Action, Environment and Heritage
