Super win for bushfire farmers

Posted on

One of Tasmania’s leading agribusinesses, Incitec Pivot, is coming to the aid of farmers hit by the recent bushfires.

Not only will one of them win 39 tonnes of superphosphate in a raffle, others will be the beneficiaries of the $25,000 raised by selling the tickets.

Incitec Pivot is donating the super to the raffle, for which there are only 500 tickets at $50 each.

The $25,000 it raises will go to the special appeal for farmers being run by the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association.

The raffle is the brainchild of Incitec’s agronomy managers after they had seen the devastation first-hand.

“Northern area sales manager Lester Rainbow was the key man in pulling together the resources,” Incitec’s Tasmanian business manager Nick Saunders said today

“It’s not a gimmick where you need to by a certain amount to qualify. It’s a genuine donation involving Incitec Pivot, Tony Cresswell’s Cresswell Transport at Deloraine and the TFGA.
“But the really important ones are the farmers who are buying the tickets,” he aaid.

TFGA chief executive Jan Davis said it was a magnanimous gesture by Incitec and Cresswell’s, which is delivering the super to the winner.

“When the going gets tough, the good guys always shine through,” Ms Davis said.

Tickets are available at all Incitec sites or through area sales managers at Wiltshire Junction 6458 3110, Devonport 6423 3009, Deloraine 6362 4700, Longford 6391 1442, Scottsdale 6352 2600, Brighton 6263 7214.
