Abbott takes wrecking ball to renewable energy progress
The Coalition’s push to freeze the $10 billion renewable energy fund that was delivered by the Greens is another demonstration of Tony Abbott’s dangerous and backwards views that will make life harder for Australians, the Australian Greens said today.
“Attacking renewable energy while supporting coal is a sure fire way to undermine job security as the world moves ever faster to a clean energy future.” Leader of the Australian Greens, Senator Christine Milne said.
“Australia’s future competition depends on innovation and rollout of technologies that support Australian manufacturing and jobs in a clean energy future. I call on businesses to now step up and take on Tony Abbott before he plunges businesses into uncertainty.
“It is also worth noting that Tony Abbott and his party have no respect for democratic processes and good governance. Pretending that the government is in caretaker mode is a sign of things to come if Tony Abbott is elected.
“It’s no surprise that the man who says climate change is crap is also willing to mislead the public about when caretaker mode starts.
“Australians love renewable energy and want to see Australia powered by the sun and wind, the Clean Energy Finance Corporation is one of the most important institutions to take us there.”
