DiUS Unveils World’s First Certified Smart Grid Integrated Electric Vehicle Charger at Melbourne’s Smart Utilities Conference 2012

Friday, 16 November 2012 – Australian technology company DiUS Computing will unveil its ChargeIQ electric vehicle charger at the upcoming 10th Annual Australia and New Zealand Smart Utilities Conference.

The conference, to be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition centre from November 20 to 22, is the largest platform across the region with a focus on the latest water and electricity industry developments. The event sees more than 700 industries professionals attend to meet and evaluate the latest smart technologies, project experiences and exchange ideas.

The targeted, large scale exhibition will provide an excellent opportunity for visitors to get informed about the latest technologies and solutions to make their next steps more successful, the perfect stage to showcase this groundbreaking technology.

The unique technology behind Charge IQ allows it to communicate with Smart Meters and adjust the electric vehicle’s charging load based on requests received over the smart meter network from utilities.

ChargeIQ will provide significant benefits to the electricity industry by enabling demand side participation through the introduction of flexible pricing tariffs, which encourage demand to be shifted from high cost peak to lower cost off peak prices benefitting both consumers and businesses.

The charger recently became the first electric vehicle home charging unit certified to the Zigbee communications standard used by Victoria’s smart meters.

DiUS Computing, along with its subsidiary Percepscion will be exhibiting a range of smart energy solutions at the event, including FireVu, a custom fridge magnet in-home display showing up to date fire danger rating information based on where you live and PowerVu, an in-home display providing real-time energy consumption information directly from your smart meter.

Mark Anderson, Chief Architect of ChargeIQ will showcase the ground-breaking technology, the only certified electric vehicle charger in the world featuring Smart Grid integration.

Mark said he was looking forward to launching the ChargeIQ and its world-first technology to industry at the Smart Utilities conference.

He said it was encouraging to see an Australian business was at the forefront with the technology.

“Victoria’s Smart Meter deployment is one of the most advanced in the world, providing a platform for Victorian companies such as Percepscion to develop world leading innovation in the energy space,” Mark said.

It is the only electric vehicle charger currently being used as part of the Victorian Department of Transport’s Demand Response Load Control Electric Vehicle Trial, running from June to December 2012.

The trial forms part of the Transport Department’s five-year Electric Vehicle Trial, which aims to better understand the process, timelines and barriers for converting to electric vehicle technologies.
