TIME FOR A WARDROBE AUDIT?
The Tasmanian Greens Member for Denison Cassy O’Connor today encouraged all Tasmanians to get involved in National Op Shop Week, by spring cleaning their wardrobes and donating surplus to local charity shops.
“There is potentially billions of dollars worth of unused and surplus clothing in peoples’ wardrobes that could be donated to op shops and put back into circulation by new owners,” Ms O’Connor said.
“I am also encouraging my Parliamentary colleagues to have a rumble through their wardrobes for quality clothing they no longer use, and donate to their local op shop.”
“Many low income families rely almost entirely on second hand stores for good quality clothes, but stocks at charity stores around the nation are now at the lowest on record.”
“There’s always somebody who needs a jumper or a pair of shoes for their child that little bit more than we do.”
“Our island state is famous for its generosity, which is why we’re urging all Tasmanians to do a wardrobe audit and clear out any clothes that aren’t likely to receive another wear,” Ms O’Connor said.
