The Tasmanian Greens today said that they would not be rushed into a decision on energy reform before having all the facts.
Greens Energy spokesperson Kim Booth MP said that the Greens were still waiting for further information stakeholders including the Expert Energy Panel.
“Last month the Greens requested further information from Treasury, the Expert Energy Panel, and Hydro Tasmania to ensure that our decision is based on rigorous data and information,” Mr Booth said.
“We are still waiting for information from the Energy Expert Panel, and we won’t be making a decision until we’ve had a chance to consider that advice.”
“The Electricity Supply Industry Expert Panel was a Tasmanian Greens initiative, and we’re not going to be rushed into making our decision.”
“Reforming the State’s Energy sector is one of the most significant decisions facing this Parliament, and history will judge us on whether we got it right.”

The Greens’ set of energy reform principles are:
• Lowest possible power-prices (particularly for domestic and small business customers)
• Provide energy security
• Maximising the State’s carbon dividend.
• Maximising transparency of energy sector
• Minimising or eliminating unnecessary risk to the Tasmanian taxpayer
• Recognition of practical complexities of energy reform implementation
• Based on information and data from Panel, Treasury and Hydro Tasmania
