Southern Water welcomes price determination

Southern Water has welcomed the final determination on water and sewerage pricing released today by the Office of the Tasmanian Economic Regulator.

Chief Executive Officer Mike Paine said that the 2012-15 price determination meant that both customers and Southern Water could now plan ahead with certainty.

“It is pleasing to see that the Economic Regulator has supported Southern Water’s plan to remove existing price discrepancies across the region so that all customers will eventually pay the same prices for the same services,” Mr Paine said.

“We look forward to beginning this transition from 1 July and continuing to communicate to our customers what the new pricing system will mean for them.”

Southern Water will be writing to all customers in June with information on how their water and sewerage charges will change from 1 July.

“Our aim is to make sure that our customers are given all the information they need to understand how their water and sewerage bill will change.

“As well as writing directly to customers we are also running one-on-one personalised pricing sessions throughout June and July for residential customers who want to find out how much their bill will be in 2012-13.
