Have you got a succession plan in place for your family business?

Posted on

Succession planning tends to be the elephant in the room, with many families believing that succession will “just happen”. Unfortunately this is often not the case and lack of a well crafted succession plan can cause angst, resentment, family bickering and, in some cases, break-down of the family unit.

Kondinon Training (part of the Kondinon Group) are bringing their national succession planning workshop to Tasmania next month and will be running a one-day workshop in Richmond, Scottsdale and Ulverstone between the 22nd and 24th May. Kondinin Group Industry Training’s Succession Planning course is registered under the FarmReady Reimbursement Grant programme. Primary producers and their immediate families may be eligible for reimbursement under the scheme subject to meeting the funding criteria. Course attendees can claim to have 65% of the course fees paid under FarmReady – see funding calculator below.

FarmReady funding ends on 30 June 2012 and reimbursement will NOT be available for courses completed after 31 May 2012 so time is limited to take up this opportunity.

Course attendees must receive pre-approval from FarmReady before attending the start of Your Family, Your Farm, Your Future by completing and submitting one Application Form for Pre-Approval for each person attending. (Note: Even though pre-approval for FarmReady is required it is a reimbursement and not a pre-payment)

Associated reasonable costs of attending a FarmReady approved course can also be reimbursed up to $500 for each delegate in each financial year. This may include child care, meals, accommodation and transport for some delegates. Please check the full details on the Claim Form to see if such items could apply in your case.
