Controversial Hobart City Council Alderman Candidate, Dean Charles Parry today reminded the people of Hobart not to forget to vote.
“Today is really it if you want to be absolutely sure your vote will count,” Mr Parry said.
Mr Parry said it is vital for the HCC to get back to basics and adopt a common sense approach.
“I understand life is busy for everyone as I am also very busy with my charity work and with my campaign.
Mr Parry queried the logic of of the Tasmanian Electoral Commission.
“Hundreds of people have told me they have not voted at all because of the low quality of the Mayoral candidates”.
The fact is voters can choose not vote for Mayor at all and still cast a valid vote.
“You do not need to for all three positions if you do not want to,” Mr Parry said.
“You are free to only vote for the Alderman candidates if you wish.”
This is not made clear at all on the ballot papers or any of the the associated material.
“It is time to re-examine the way the TEC conduct local government elections.
