Moonah Arts Centre’s Friday Night Concert Series
Friday July 15
The Steve Young Trio (with Friends).

The Steve Young Trio promises to take you to places with a sprinkling of indigo and an iridescent rainbow of moods, as it presents an hour long concert of free ranging jazz, part of the popular Moonah Arts Centre Friday Concert series on July 15.

The Trio of Steve (piano, vocal), Ben (bass) & Glen (drums) is joined by the inimitable Melbourne sax guru, Danny Healy, recently arrived in Hobart, and Indian sitar playing South American percussion player and didgeridoo-ophinist, Rodrigo Diaz-Icasuriaga.

In a generous eclectic one hour set, the Trio will take you through a unique interpretation of the songs of the great American jazz performer- composers, Duke Ellington and John Coltrane; an acoustic jazz exploration of the Beatles’ Strawberry Fields; and finally a revelatory tribute to New Orleans, a musical gumbo conjuring the spirit of the Crescent City where Steve grew up.

Steve promises ‘a warm winter fire of lush sounds, a smattering of fireside poetry….and when the music ends and the audience brave their way back whistling an echoing resonance, they’ll know the song is still going somewhere…’.
