IN AN EFFORT TO LAND AN INTERVIEW WITH JULIA GILLARD, HOBART’S EDGE RADIO IS ASKING ALL PEOPLE TO CHANGE THEIR PROFILE PICTURE ON FACEBOOK TO THAT OF OUR PRIME MINISTER FOR ONE DAY ON JUNE 10.

Edge Radio’s Friday breakfast show The Brink, has declared next Friday, Julia Gillard Day.

The Brink is asking all people to change their profile picture on Facebook to that of one of our PM on June 10, to show that Australia supports an interview with Ms Gillard on Hobart’s leading community radio station.

The show’s hosts Ben Waterworth, Peter Wallhead & Kelly Trepkowski have talked with some of the biggest guests in Edge Radio’s history, from Tasmanian Premier Lara Giddings, 7 times Formula 1 Champion Michael Schumacher and even Jeff the purple Wiggle. Now they have set their sights on getting an interview with the most important person in the country, the Prime Minister Julia Gillard.

“This is an important day for all Australian’s, no matter which side of the political fence you sit on. To date the Prime Minister has resisted all requests to be interviewed on The Brink, but with Facebook being such a powerful tool in today’s society, we are hoping that thousands, even millions, of pictures of Julia Gillard beaming across the internet on June 10 will make her change her mind.” host Ben Waterworth says

“Clearly Julia has been facing a difficult time at the moment, especially in the polls. However we have a history of our interviewees going on the bigger and better things after appearing on our show. Several of our guests have gone on to commercial success after being interviewed by us and most famously we still take credit for David Bartlett becoming Premier after saying he would be on our show only months before he took office in 2008. With that sort of power, who knows what awaits the PM shall she finally decide to appear on our show? And for people strongly against Julia Gillard there is still a way to be involved, with the other option being to change your profile picture to that of The Brinks logo for the 24 hour duration”

Two campaign videos for both ‘Operation Julia’ as well as ‘International Julia Gillard Day’ have also been released via The Brink’s official website, on their Facebook page as well as on YouTube.

The Brink are also planning to hold a very special ‘International Julia Gillard Day’ festivities during their show on the day, with banners, signs and activities happening during their broadcast, as well as asking all guests to pay homage to our first female Prime Minister by donning Julia Gillard masks and speaking in their best Julia Gillard voice.

The Brink is broadcast live every Friday morning on Hobart’s Edge Radio from 7am till 10am and has gone on to become on of Hobart’s favourite breakfast shows. Edge Radio itself has been on air for nearly 10 years and has become Hobart’s number one choice for youth issues as well its leading community station.
