The Tasmanian Council of Social Service today announced that Tony Reidy had accepted an offer to take up the role of Chief Executive of TasCOSS from early in 2011.

Tony is currently Executive Director of the Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation, a highly regarded research institute which is also one of the state’s most successful charities.

He is a management and public affairs specialist with a career background which includes senior roles in the public and private sectors, including the Australian Education Union, Forestry Tasmania and the Tasmanian and Federal Governments.

Tony Reidy is also a director of MyState Limited and a former Chairman of MyState Financial.

He has a long history in working in the community sector in the pursuit of social justice outcomes.

The Council’s Tasmanian President Noel Mundy said that the organisation’s Board was delighted that Tony had accepted the role, and would look forward to working with him when he starts in the position in early February next year.

“The work of TasCOSS in improving access and opportunity for low income and disadvantaged members of our Tasmanian community is more important than ever, and TasCOSS is confident that the skills and networks that Tony brings to the Council will enable him to effectively support the organisation’s Board, staff and member organisations in achieving these vital outcomes”, Noel said.
