The Contamination of Tasmania’s waterways continues with no seeming urgency to do anything about it !
Pesticide Monitoring in water catchments (DPIPWE) updated 24 July 09 shows:
· Coal R – (Baseline 2-6) boscalid – fungicide (? from cabbage crops), pirimicarb (? from lettuce crops)
SIRU 22-6- boscalid, hexazinone and simazine (the origin of these has not been established)
· Duck R – (Flood 7 to 10- 6 and 27 to 29-6 ) MCPA (weeds such as thistles and cape weed). MCPA has been listed as a carcinogen in California and has to be shown on food labels if used in food production
SIRU 27-4 and 27-5 MCPA – Tr
· George R – (Flood 1-7) MCPA
