Thankyou for your reply to my email of February 2006.

I am pleased that you have reviewed the documentary Two Visions and that you have passed on the concerns raised to the Prime Minister and to the Treasurer as ultimately it is the tax concessions to the timber companies establishing plantations that is causing the problems cited in the film.

I do not agree with your statement that the film presents a ‘biased view of forest management’. The fact that only one side is represented really could not be helped as neither Forestry Tasmania nor Gunns Ltd. made themselves available for interview.

Otherwise I stand by the accuracy of the information presented by all the interviewed people.

The serious issues with regard to hydrology, wastage of valuable timber, aerial spraying of dangerous chemicals, fouling of domestic waterways with 1080 stricken animals, threatening of biodiversity and the generally deplorable financial performance of Forestry Tasmania have not been addressed by any of the inquiries, actions, regulations or “agreements” initiated by either the Federal or State Governments.

You response, notwithstanding all this, is appreciated and will be attached to the Two Visions website for public viewing and
consideration.

Yours Sincerely
Dr Frank Nicklason FRACP
