Socialist Alliance is organising a Women and Industrial Relations Forum to highlight the negative impact that the “Work Choices” legislation will on women’s pay and conditions. Women on average earn only 2/3rds of what men currently earn in Australia and this gap is set to increase as a direct result of these changes. The details of the forum are as follows:

Date: Friday April 28, 2006

Venue: Women Tasmania, Meeting Room (140 Macquaire St, Hobart)

Time: 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm

Speakers: Peg Putt (The Greens), a speaker from the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Union and Linda Seaborn (Socialist Alliance candidate and convenor for the Council of Single Mothers and their Children).
