THERE has been some concern, if not outrage, over people buying tickets to the hugely popular Falls Festival at Marion Bay over the New Year long weekend, only to sell them at inflated prices.
My good friend Bacchus No-Smoke was having a drink in Sorell yesterday, where he heard that some of the scalpers are none other than local residents.
It seems that the organisers allocated 500 of the 13,700 tickets for locals at a discounted price, as a sweetener because of rumblings about traffic congestion at the start and end of the festival.
Bacchus tells me that last year, quite a number of these special tickets were sold for a handsome profit. Indeed, one well known scalper, who is vocal about the traffic but bought a cheap ticket last year and sold it profitably, wasn’t offered one this year.
However, some tickets are known to have changed hands …
