My good friend Bacchus No-Smoke was having an ale at T42 on the Hobart waterfront with buddies in the bureaucracy where he heard of their concern about the Government’s tardiness in setting up the Sullivans Cove Waterfront Authority.

Under new legislation, he was told, the Authority must be functioning by February 28. Under the same legislation, apparently, development applications must be dealt with within 42 days of being lodged – otherwise – they are deemed approved automatically.

The problem, it seems, is that without the Authority in place – and
importantly, that includes its advisory committees – any development
application lodged on March 1 could have a dream run…..
