MEDIA RELEASE
Walking Car to Promote Tassie’s Cool New way to get Around.
For immediate release – Saturday June 7th 2008.
Today an innovative Tasmanian strategy to tackle climate change, counter rising fuel costs and provide a safe, flexible system for transport was announced in Hobart. Cool Pool Tas is the brainchild of Georgi Marshall who has worked with local web developers to integrate sophisticated technologies and create Tasmania’s first dedicated online car pooling website.
“After exploring the best available car pooling websites from interstate and around the world I was determined to create an easy to use, dynamic and secure site for locals and visitors to carpool in Tasmania.” Said Georgi
“I see Tasmanians struggling with the realities of rising fuel prices everyday. However, our hope with Cool Pool Tas is to introduce, encourage and provide new opportunities for sustaining successful passenger and driver connections throughout the State”.
“We have constructed a walking car as a fun way to help promote the new site. The idea is that the car can only walk if it has enough people to carry it!
“One of the inspirations for creating Cool Pool Tas was the high number of cars, with no passengers, all travelling to the same event, and workplace and from the same departure point”.
Members of the public are invited to come and meet Cool Pool Tas; help us walk the car; and sign up for carpooling in Tasmania this weekend at the Royal Botanical Gardens’ Enviro-Fest event on June the 8th from 10am to 3pm. Alternatively, jump on line from June the 9th to register and start trading, searching or offering rides in Tasmania.
The official website www.coolpooltas.com.au will open its registration link on the 9th of June, with free access to those 18 years and older to post, search, and log rides from their personal sign in page.
