2. PROPOSED RESOLUTION – TO PRIME MINISTER RUDD AND THE AUSTRALIAN LABOR PARTY
“This meeting resolves that the following call be made to PM Rudd and the ALP:
We call upon all members of the ALP to accelerate their plans for the ‘retirement’ or sacking of Premier Paul Lennon. We seek real leadership and a real commitment to Australian values, a fair go and responsible government. We want a Premier who:
*Has the personal integrity to display and enforce the highest ethical standards, not one who is repeatedly implicated in ignoring or undermining them.
*Is clearly committed to the wellbeing and future of all Tasmanians, not just pet projects and industries.
*Shows respect for the needs and concerns of Tasmanians and can show genuine leadership instead of seeing a ‘green conspiracy’ around every corner.
*Ensures projects are assessed on their merits, knowing it is improper to compromise or fast-track assessments in a way which excludes legitimate social, economic and environmental concerns
We ask that you take action to restore public trust in the ALP and its ability to hold government in tasmania. Australians deserve to know that the ALP has ethical and performance standards, that it takes them very seriously, and that it does act to enforce them at all levels of the party’s activities.”
For – 589; Against – 1; Abstain – 11
3. PROPOSED RESOLUTION – RISK ASSESSMENT
This meeting resolves that the following call be made:
“That the Premier and State Government ensures that all local authorities have completed legally required risk assessment obligations regarding potential hazards with the proposed Tamar Valley Pulp Mill.”
For – 599; Against – 0; Abstain – 1
4. PROPOSED RESOLUTION – BILL OF RIGHTS
“This meeting endorses the call for an Australian Bill of Rights made at the 2020 Summit earlier this month. We want a Bill of Rights that provides all Australians with fundamental rights, that protects them from bad government, and creates minimum standards of government and services to taxpayers. We ask that Prime Minister Rudd treat this as a priority for this term of his government.”
