We have inquired to Gunns twice suggesting the use of ozone treatment at the proposed paper mill in Tasmania. … Ozone is being used throughout the world and the use would enable the substitution of chlorine in the process when bleaching the pulp this would remove the organic chlorines contain dioxins into the environment.

Sir or Madam,

We are a water treatment company who represents Ozonia part of the Degremont Group in Europe.

We have also represented Trailigaz who are now Wedico. These two companies are the largest specialist companies in the world.

Ozonia have patented a ceramic tube process which has revolutionised ozone generators enabling the physical size to be reduced dramatically.

Ozone is used in water treatment for drinking water and can also be used in the paper mill industry for bleaching process.

We have inquired to Gunns twice suggesting the use of ozone treatment at the proposed paper mill in Tasmania.

Ozone is produced from oxygen to form O3, and only has a short life when after it has been activated reverts back to O2. A beautiful green solution.

The use of ozone would eliminate the use of chlorine but it is expensive as the process requires ozone generators, compressors and oxygen.

Ozone is being used throughout the world and the use would enable the substitution of chlorine in the process when bleaching the pulp this would remove the organic chlorines contain dioxins into the environment.

When we approached Gunns twice this was there response:

Ken

We are not considering to use Ozone for our water treatment. Thanks.
