The chair of the Hobart City Council Development and Environmental Services Committee (DESC) is Darlene Haigh.
At its last meeting (5pm Monday 20 August) two other committee members were present, Eva Ruzicka and Helen Burnet. Rob Valentine, was also present, ex officio, to ensure a quorum.
Ruzicka took the chair, the minutes taker sitting at her right hand.
Ruzicka: -Apologies? Silence.
-Leave of Absence? None.
Ruzicka: (to minutes taker) – That’s an apology then. For Haigh.
Councillors Burnet and Valentine both appeared to be perturbed by this decision.
Valentine: – Excuse me, but I thought Alderman Haigh had Leave of Absence.
This, it transpired, had run out on 14 August.
The problem was left unresolved as the Chair, Ruzicka, swiftly moved on to the evening’s agenda items.
