Unless I have misunderstood, Gunns TV advertisements claim that they are accredited by four different agencies or standards.
The world recognised quality standard of accreditation is, Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) which Senator Abetz attacks. Forestry Stewardship Council is avoided or ignored by all plantation companies operating in Tasmania including Gunns.
I asked one of Gunns representatives who it was that assessed and audited their operations to ensure the standards required for accreditation are adhered to?
The answer surprised me. It was, “You will laugh when I tell you this; we do.”
Self-regulation in the forestry industry is rife with cover-ups.
It now appears self auditing is Gunns Ltd. basis for accreditation with their four accreditation agencies.
