Following on from the enormously successful River Rally where all participants enjoyed themselves immensely while registering their opposition to the proposed pulp mill that, and in response to many requests, ‘Tasmanians Against the Pulp Mill’ (TAP) has decided to go ahead with planning for another similar event.
Planning is very obviously in the early stage but it is intended to hold this rally in the upper reaches of the Tamar and the Cataract Gorge on Saturdy 3rd March.

Due to the location we would like as many small craft (canoes, kayaks, tinnies, runabouts, rubber duckies, dinghies, in fact anything that floats and can get into the Gorge) to participate, we would like to literally pack the Gorge with boats!

As before larger vessels will be essential to complete the scene but obviously will be unable to enter the Gorge; however they will combine with the Armada of small craft when it exits the Gorge and moves into the Tamar and North Esk.

The rally theme will be ‘WATER’; bearing in mind Hydro Tasmania can find 3 MILLION LITRES OF WATER AN HOUR, 7/24, for the pulp mill while Australia is drought stricken with Tasmania’s rivers drying up and some farmers banned from irrigating their crops!

The colour theme will be BLUE (balloons, clothing, flags etc.), it would be just great for the media to look up the Gorge from Kings Bridge and see a sea of blue.

There will be shore based activities & festivities in support of the water borne action so everyone will have the opportunity to take part, we hope to turn it into a real water carnival with music, including the now famous ‘Voices of the Tamar’ choir, and generally enough going on to ensure everyone has a real fun day.

Once more we hope to have your support, full details will be provided in the New Year but in the meantime, PLEASE, mark Sat. 3rd March in your diary now and spread the word among your friends, some may have been unable to make the last rally and will be disappointed to miss this one.
