0,000 AVAILABLE FOR ADULT AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Community groups and organisations have the opportunity to raise the profile of adult and community education through a 0,000 state-wide grants program.
Education Minister David Bartlett said the State Government had increased Adult and Community Education (ACE) grants funding in line with a commitment made with the release of Tasmania: A State of Learning, the state’s strategy for post-year 10 education and training.
“Under this initiative 0,000 will be available annually from 2007, representing a doubling of the pre-2005 grant budget,” Mr Bartlett said.
“The 2007 ACE grants will support initiatives that address unmet adult learning needs in the Tasmanian community, increase and diversify participation in adult learning, and promote the value of lifelong learning within local communities.
“Non-profit groups and organisations can submit proposals for grants of up to 00 for these sorts of initiatives.
“The ACE grants are a wonderful opportunity for the Tasmanian community to work in partnership with the government to bring to the community the personal, social and economic benefits of lifelong learning.
“There are many non-profit groups and organisations providing non-formal adult learning programs in Tasmania across regions, and state-wide.
“I encourage these groups to apply for the grants so we can work together to support lifelong learning,” Mr Bartlett said.
