University of Tasmania associate-professor of political science Richard Herr has no doubt that Mr Green is in deep trouble. Dr Herr believes that with at least five serious inquiries under way into Mr Green’s ministerial conduct and propriety relating to several different issues, that his career is permanently damaged. But he also wonders how much Mr Lennon’s leadership has been wounded too, coming so soon after what should have been his victorious return to Parliament after the state election. “It will cost Mr Green politically regardless of what the inquiries find, because it is going to be much harder for him to regain the confidence of his colleagues and the Premier after all this,” Dr Herr said. “But it is such a tangled web that is being revealed that while it is politically damaging for Bryan Green, it’s also dragging the Government and the Premier down too.”
