It’s about a coastline unparalleled in its beauty, and a political/corporate steamroller navigated by empty pragmatists and fuelled by greed. And, it’s about loving a place so much you will fight for it to your last breath. There is no place for canal developments in Tasmania. They are crass, outdated and most importantly, they are environmentally toxic. That’s why it is now illegal to construct a canal estate in NSW.

THOSE of us who have raised our voices in protest at the proposed desecration of Ralphs Bay by Lennon Labor and the Walker Corporation stand, yet again, accused of NIMBYism.

NIMBYism is a label used to deride the concerns of thoughtful people who share a strong sense of place and environmental responsibility. Personally, I see Tasmania as my backyard. I have neighbours in Hobart, Dunalley, St Helens, Launceston, Wynyard and Strahan who feel exactly the same as so many of us here on the lovely South Arm Peninsula do.

This is about a community of concern that reaches to all compass points on the island and beyond.

It’s about a coastline unparalleled in its beauty, and a political/corporate steamroller navigated by empty pragmatists and fuelled by greed.

This is a fight we simply HAVE to win …

All offers of assistance or support will be gratefully received. Our website, www.saveralphsbay.org will be up and running within the week.

We shall fight them on the beaches.
