Resources Minister Paul Harriss has lost complete control of the Resources portfolio and should immediately resign or be sacked.
“Mr Harriss’ has failed on every promise to the forest and mining industries and the resignation of his hand-picked deputy chair of the forestry advisory council leaves his credibility in tatters,” Mr Green said.
“Sue Smith’s sudden departure makes a lie of Mr Harriss’ claims he has the full support of the council.
“Forestry workers are being sacked, the industry is shrinking, public forest assets are being sold off, anti-protest laws are a joke and, to top it off, the Triabunna port is now on the market.
“Mr Harriss refuses to accept responsibility for his failures as a Minister and even worse, he has no credible plan for either forestry or mining.
“Around 100 mining jobs a week have been lost on Mr Harriss’ watch and mineral exploration has crashed to its lowest level in six years.
“The Premier cannot let this farce continue.
“If Mr Harriss refuses to resign, then Will Hodgman should remove him.
“Mr Harriss is simply not up to the job beyond his sickening political rhetoric.
“Jobs are being lost and critical industries are unravelling and it is crystal clear that Mr Harriss has no capacity to deal with it.”
