Hag

After a little bit of digging and an off the record conversation with a nice young chap from the Victorian CFMEU I learned that the ban is a protest at Gunns Ltd’s support of John Howard during the last Federal Election.

While taking a well earned staggering break in Melbourne Hag took the opportunity to wander around the city and do some sight-seeing.

Imagine my surprise when I saw this sign on the new Southern Cross Station, ex Spencer Street. The feeling of Tasmanian pride was so overwhelming that I nearly forgot about my suitcases and recently acquired new supply of absinthe.

Did my bleary wandering eyes deceive me, what did this mean?

After a little bit of digging and an off the record conversation with a nice young chap from the Victorian CFMEU I learned that the ban is a protest at Gunns Ltd’s support of John Howard during the last Federal Election.

But hang on didn’t the Tasmanian branch of the CFMEU attend that rally, in droves, and cheer bonsai, little Bush, onto the stage?

Yes they did, and they are one of the plethora of unions opposing the new industrial relations legislation; it’s a funny old world isn’t it.

I am sure the whole thing is the fault of those pesky, unwashed, lying and trouble making Greens.

You watch, this sign will cost jobs — and thousands of them. It may even single handedly sink the much vaunted sub-world’s best practice pulp mill.

But don’t worry, that defender of timber folk, the evergreen Barry Chipman will stand up for Gunns and those well run contracting operations.

Hag has to go now as she has an appointment at Crown Casino.

And, another thing …

How sickening it was to hear Lara Giddings claim that revelations that homeless people were being housed on Spirit !!! was an attempt to smear Parliament.

Hag broke this story some months ago. Her source is impeccable. Unusually, she was completely sober at the time she was told.*

Far from being a smear on Parliament this story can only be a source of the greatest shame for this non-Labor Government.

*Ooops, no she wasn’t, seems she was smashed at the time, but still maintains the impeccable accuracy of the information: A bit of goss from the old Hag
